Here in Viru Bog in Estonia with my artist friend Beyza Tosunoğlu. Together, we blended her artistry in creating a wearable mask titled Resurgam (Latin for 'I shall rise again) with my photography to produce this work, titled Internia.
Resurgam #1
Internia is the tendency to remain in the same thought patterns to which one is accustomed; it is the resistance to changing the subconscious approaches we take every day because we are habituated to certain opinions, behaviors, and actions. The untouched moss and ancient plants of the landscape further evoke this idea of stillness and non-movement, reinforcing the theme of resistance to transformation. Soft moss becomes a comforting retreat by staying in our comfort zone.
